Penlake Juniors Soccer Skills Camp 2010

Skills Camp goes from strength to strength.

Penlake would like to thank all the children who attended this year's Summer Soccer Skills Camp.  The camp was run over 3 days 26th, 27th and 28th of July 2010, and despite the 'English Weather' threatening to wash out the event, it was attended by almost 50 budding young football stars between the ages of 5 and 11 more than double the amount of the previous year, proving the popularity of the event which is growing year on year, quite an increase on the previous year's 24 participants.

Building on the last 2 years Soccer Skills Camps, and Penlake's continuing coach education programme, the club has been able to further extend and enhance it's long term vision of providing the children of the local community with this kind of facility.

With qualified coaches Steve Smith and Paul Forester providing special coaching sessions aimed at improving the children's skills and abilities and teaching them how to prepare for physical activity.  This session included a full warm up followed by shooting, passing, running with the ball and goalkeeping skills amongst others.

All three days were packed with fun exercises and games designed to educate and provide enjoyment for budding footballers. Special "Skills" Sessions were a huge success with every child learning a number of different methods to get past a player, using the same skills as their heroes on T.V.  There were also competitions including 6 aside champions' league, penalty shoot-outs and a fun Football-based quiz.

Every child who took part was given their own football to keep and take away to continue to practice the skills and techniques they have learnt, and were also presented with a medal at the end of the 3 days.

All that remains is for us to thank all the coaches and penlake players who came down and helped out with the coaching sessions.
